ON STAGE
UN FOOD SYSTEMS SUMMIT
Co-Host
I had the extraordinary honor of co-hosting the UN Food Systems Summit 2021 alongside the brilliant Natalie Becker Okkervik, broadcast live from New York City to over 51,000 participants across 193 countries.
As the first-ever UN summit focused entirely on transforming our global food systems, it was a powerful call to action—to rethink how we grow, distribute, and share food in ways that are equitable, sustainable, and rooted in justice. With over 90 heads of state and global leaders participating, the summit centered urgent challenges like food insecurity, climate injustice, and the exploitation of labor and land.
Being part of this landmark moment was deeply meaningful to me—not only as a journalist, but as someone committed to amplifying underrepresented voices and imagining a world where access to nourishing food is a basic right, not a privilege.
"Your personal participation and remarks contributed greatly to the Summit’s overall success. You were very well prepared and extremely professional in presenting the speakers in the proper light, in the way you kept us all at the height of our attention for the entire duration of the sessions you presented."
Agnes Kalibata // Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for the Food Systems Summit
